Dr. Walter Thomas Richardson is the Senior Pastor at Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church in Perrine, Florida.

A Miami native, Dr. Richardson was born on July 2, 1948 to Bishop Walter H. and Mrs. Poseline M. Richardson.  He is married to M. Dolores and they have been blessed with two wonderful children, Walter L. and LaKisha. Dr. Richardson and seven grandchildren.

Dr. Richardson has been Senior Pastor at Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church since October, 1983.  He serves as adjunct professor of religion at Saint Thomas University and is a chaplain with the Miami-Dade Police Department.  Dr. Richardson is also an accomplished author having written, “Going through Samaria” in 1999.

Dr. Richardson humbly serves God and his community.  The Sweet Home Church is involved in holistic healing for the family in that it offers ministries involving singles, married couples, youth, the elderly and peer counseling at all levels.  By letting the Word of God flow through Dr. Richardson, Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church is reaching out to the entire community, resulting in a racially diverse congregation.

A visionary, Dr. Richardson through the blessing of God was instrumental in purchasing 24 acres of land for the multi expansion of Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church.  The four phase program includes a worship center, daycare center, charter school, administrative offices and a family life center.

An advocate for social justice, Dr. Richardson has been a leading voice for social change.  An accomplished minister of the Gospel, Dr. Richardson is also known nationally for his musical talent, having recorded with several choirs and artists, including the Florida Mass Choir as a vocalist and musician.  He has written over 100 songs and more than 30 of them have been recorded.

Dr. Richardson is a recipient of many awards and proclamations recognizing his dynamic work in the community.  Although they are too numerous to mention, one of his most notable accomplishments listed Dr. Walter T. Richardson in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers in 2002.

Dr. Richardson has emerged as one of the well-known, Spirit-filled preachers of our time.
